Job Summary:

A growing insurance services organization is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to support its expanding operations. This role will report directly to the Controller and focus heavily on onboarding and supporting newly acquired agencies, with a strong emphasis on agency management system processes and accounting functions. The ideal candidate thrives in a growth-focused, fast-moving environment and enjoys leading teams through integrations and process improvements.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and mentor a team of staff accountants, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in daily accounting operations.
  • Oversee the accounting integration of newly acquired agencies, including Applied Epic data entry and reconciliation, general ledger work, and bank reconciliations.
  • Establish and maintain sound accounting policies and procedures that support a multi-entity, growth-oriented business.
  • Manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely reporting in a complex and evolving environment.
  • Partner with agency leadership, external auditors, financial institutions, and other business partners to optimize relationships and processes.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting in support of agency operations and management decision-making.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience within small to mid-sized, multi-location businesses.
  • Prior experience as an Accounting Manager, Supervisor, or Team Lead.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team of accounting professionals.
  • Full general ledger and financial reporting responsibility in a prior role.
  • Strong background in implementing and improving accounting policies and procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with Applied Epic is required 
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, with working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Must be based in the Greater Chicago area.

Compensation Package:

  • $130k-$145k
  • Competitive pay, great health benefits, 401K with company match, very generous PTO
  • Onsite five days a week in Chicago, IL
